Dr. Austin Goodyke is a graduate of Grandville Calvin Christian High School and Hope College, where he earned a degree in Exercise Science and was captain of the men’s baseball team. He then attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, graduating in the top ten percent of his class with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
While in dental school, Dr. Goodyke founded and was president of The Global Initiatives in Oral Health Care Club and piloted an annual trip for dental students to provide dental care in a remote Guatemalan village. He further served at Bay Cliff Health Camp providing free dental care to special needs children and volunteers his skills with the West Michigan Dental Foundation and at area safety-net clinics.
Dr. Goodyke also received numerous recognitions as a dental student, including awards in the delivery of comprehensive care, periodontics, and endodontics by the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He also received a scholarship from the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation for his commitment to leadership and community service.
Austin is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, West Michigan District Dental Society, Kent County Dental Society, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honors Society.
Austin met his wife Madison while they were both students at Hope. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the College of Nursing at the University of Illinois Chicago. In his spare time, Austin enjoys to hunt, golf, travel, and exercise. He is very excited to practice at Smiley Family Dentistry and is focused on providing the highest quality care and building lasting relationships with every patient he encounters.
